Brooklynn Merja is the 19-year-old daughter of Patrick and Charla Merja. Brooklynn grew up in Sun River, Montana and in 2014 graduated from Charles M. Russell High School. Growing up, Brooklynn was involved in 4-H and FFA. She showed horses and dogs, judged horses and livestock as well as participating in vet science competitions. Brooklynn earned her FFA American Degree last fall. This is the highest degree that an FFA member can earn and exhibits the values of hard work, team work, and leadership. Her life on the family farm has led to her developing a real passion for horse, cattle, and family tradition.

She is currently pursuing a nursing degree at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. After earning her degree Brooklynn plans for work in either Great Falls or the rural communities around Great Falls to give back to her community. Working in the Great Falls area will allow her to be close to the family farm and be able to help when they need an extra hand.

During the 2015 rodeo season Brooklynn represented the Big Sky Pro Rodeo Roundup and was able to travel to towns across Montana and participate in many rodeos, parades and community activities.   She had a wonderful and enlightening experience last year as queen and was asked to represent The Big Sky Pro Rodeo Roundup again for the 2016 rodeo season.  She gladly accepted the opportunity.

Brooklynn credits her family and the agricultural lifestyle for her work ethic, passion for the land, and her absolute love for horses and cattle. All year long she looks forward to learning more and more about the cattle and the work that is needed to keep the herd healthy. She also loves riding her horse for any reason she can make up. Whether they are moving the cattle miles or the cattle just need to be checked, its Brooklynn’s pleasure to saddle up and move out. It is her love for horses, cattle, agriculture, and rodeo that Brooklynn considers it an honor to represent Great Falls as the 2016 Big Sky Pro Rodeo Roundup Queen!
